An Early Goose Hunting Season Adventure to Remember: Podcast Insights to Thrilling Hunts
Embarking on a waterfowl hunting adventure is always an exhilarating experience, but when it's intertwined with expert insights and firsthand experiences, it becomes a tale worth sharing. Our recent journey with Campus Waterfowl took us from insightful discussions with a duck calling champion to the thrilling landscapes of Wisconsin's early goose hunting season.
During a special episode of our podcast, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Mason Tait, a 2x Intermediate World's Duck Calling Champion from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mason shared his personal journey, delving into the intricacies of duck and goose calling competitions, the pivotal role of mentorship, and the subtle art of selecting the perfect duck call.
As dawn broke over Wisconsin, the early goose hunting season presented us with a spectacle of big groups of local geese painting the skies. The morning was one for the books, later that afternoon we went back to the field and tried our luck at some dove hunting.
As any seasoned hunter knows, the sport is as unpredictable as nature itself. Our second day was a testament to this. Initial setbacks and challenges tested our team's resilience and adaptability. But with a blend of strategy, teamwork, and a touch of luck, we managed to turn the tide in our favor, outwitting the elusive birds and marking another successful day in the fields.
Before diving headfirst into the hunting season, it's essential to sharpen one's skills. And who better to guide us than a champion? Mason Tait, with his wealth of experience, shared invaluable duck calling tips. From the importance of self-assessment through recording to practicing diverse sequences, Mason's insights are a treasure trove for both novices and seasoned hunters alike.
As we reflect on our adventure, it's a blend of learning, excitement, and memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.
